Image
Lights, camera, action! It's time for a special movie-themed cryptic for you all. This one is themed after Oscar Night with a lot of Oscar-themed entries. See if you can discover them all. I worked very hard on this cryptic, wanting it to be the best it could be. So hopefully you enjoy it :)   Special thanks to  Bob Weisz   and juff   for test solving this cryptic. Your feedback was invaluable.  [  Full Screen  |  PUZ  ]

Cross Word Cross (ASC #5 - Theme)

Hello, hello, hello, it's me, Roy of the Johnsons. I've got a new puzzle for you straight out of the oven. It's a themed American-style with a special  little twist to it. Because of said twist, I won't be able to provide a .puz file for this crossword. I won't spoil the twist here but let's just say I'm very excited about this puzzle. I think you'll like it a lot.  There was much debate over how to classify this particular puzzle. Because of its 13x13 grid, I wasn't sure whether to consider this a midi or not. There was much debate about this on Crosscord. But as for my consensus, I consider this too large to be a midi but not large enough to be a regular crossword. A "midreg" as it were. Regardless, I'll keep the American-Style label on it and not the "midi" one.  But enough of that nonsense, I hope you enjoy the puzzle. :) Special thanks to  Quiara Vasquez ,  Leesa Charlotte ,  FiveCubed ,  PuzzleJohn , and  jc6213 for tes...

Back to Black (ASC #4 - Theme)

Howdy, y'all. It's me, Roy Johnson here. I've got a themed NY-Times style crossword for you today. It's a special little tribute to some incredibly talented individuals who weren't too long for this world. It might be a somber puzzle for some people but there's still some light spots in it too.  Fun fact: I actually created this puzzle on stream. You can check out the "making of" process by clicking  this link . Of course, you should probably solve the puzzle first. I hope you like it. :) [  Full Screen  |  PUZ  ]

Butterfly In The Sky (ASC #3 - Theme)

Butterfly in the sky. I can go twice as high. Take a look. It's in a book. A Reading Rainbow.  Hello, folks, it's me, Roy Johnson. I am here today to bring you a brand new American-Style crossword or "regular" crossword. (Some people get confused when I use the term "American-style crossword" so, for those confused, it's basically like the crosswords you would see in The New York Times. Hope that makes sense.) This one is themed. It's a simple theme but a fun one. Also, I made sure this puzzle didn't have any tough across-down sections. So this puzzle should be perfectly doable for everybody... hopefully. In any case, I hope you'll enjoy. :) Special thanks to  PuzzleJohn and Ori  for test solving this.  [  Full Screen  |  PUZ  ]

Roy Johnson's Cryptic #2 (Theme)

Image
Hello there. It's me, Roy Johnson. Back at it again with another cryptic. This is now my second puzzle and hopefully you will see some improvements over the first one. Clues have been fine-tuned. Grid has less unches. And all of the awesome feedback from the first cryptic has went into making this one even better (hopefully). Also this one has a fun theme to it. See if you can guess it? Hope you'll enjoy. :) Special thanks to  Steve Mossberg  for test solving this puzzle.  [  Full Screen  |  PUZ  ]

American-Style Crossword #1 (Theme)

Image
Note: Upon further reflection and crossword making, I realize this is a very  flawed crossword. I would almost call it completely terrible. In any case, I wouldn't recommend trying this if this is your first crossword of mine. I'd recommend literally any of my other American-Style crosswords. But hey, if you still wanna give this puzzle a try, go ahead. Just don't say I didn't warn you. Hello everybody, Roy Johnson here. Ready to present you all with my first ever American-style crossword. This was a fun process but also a struggle. Definitely ran into multiple situations where I felt like ramming my head through a wall trying to get these words to work into the grid. Even now, in its most complete state, there are two hints that I feel are total cheats. But I'm still proud of this puzzle and hopefully, this serves as a stepping stone to make even better crosswords. Also, this is a themed crossword so see if you can guess the theme. It should be obvious.  Hope you...
